Obituary of Roy Edwin Armstead

Columbia - Roy Edwin (Eddie) Armstead Jr., 65, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away December 30, 2014 at Providence Hospital Columbia, South Carolina. He was born on May 17, 1949 in Newnan, Georgia to the late Roy Edwin Armstead Sr. and Ellen Jean (Masdon) Armstead. Eddie was a great husband and wonderful father and grandfather. He had a passion for his Harley motorcycles and participated in the Charity Run for Children. Eddie liked to fish and was a jack of all trades. He could fix or put anything together. He was a hard worker and taught his children his work ethic. Eddie cared for all animals and enjoyed the outdoors. He had an acute attention to detail. Eddie even built and flew his own model airplanes. His family was the most important thing in his life. He loved having them around him whenever possible. His great sense of humor and loving ways will be greatly and dearly missed. Eddie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Dorothea Rosemarie Armstead, daughters; Rebecca Jean Harper (David) of Lugoff, SC, Renee Elizabeth Roberts (Jeff) of Lexington, SC and a son Christopher Lynn Armstead (Alisha) of Lugoff, SC. He is also survived by his brother; Ronald Eugene Armstead (Karen) of Elgin SC. He also leaves behind eight beautiful grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM. Funeral services will be in the Thompsons Funeral Home Chapel following the visitation. Commitment ceremony with military honors will be held at Ft Jackson National Cemetery with the Father E. E.
