Obituary of David Lee Smith

David Lee Smith, 56, of Swansea, entered into rest December 31, 2014 at Georgia Regents Medical Center, Augusta, GA. Born May 21, 1958 in Fort Belvoir, VA, he was the son of the late Daniel and Valerie (Palmer) Smith. David was a volunteer rifle coach at Swansea High School, and will be remembered by his family as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. David is survived by his wife of more than 23 years, Vickie (Kelley) Smith; four children, Crystal (Craig) Stroman, Rochelle (Brandon) Peroutka, Kegan (Amber) Smith and Ashley Panosh; sister, Carole Edwards; seven grandchildren and one great grandson; as well as two nephews and one niece. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00 P.M., at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the South Carolina Special Olympics, 1276 Assembly Street, Columbia SC 29201.
