Obituary of Juanita Waites McCullar

Lexington - Juanita Waites McCullar passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 in Lexington Medical Center. Juanita was born on April 27, 1925 in Columbia to the late Abner and Lillie Waites. She graduated from Columbia High School. After a long career, she retired from Lexington Place Apartments. Her great loves in retirement were family, friends and flower gardening. Juanita was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church. Juanita is survived by her two sons and their wives: Sammy (Ginger), and Snooky (Elizabeth); five grandsons (Brad (Dodie), Brent, Heath (Jenna), Cameron, and Hendrick); two great granddaughters (Sara and Haley). Surviving in addition is her sister-in-law (Dot Waites), and numerous nephews and nieces. Her surviving family will always have cherished memories, and she will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (J.W., Sr.); brothers, Maxie, A.H., Wesley, Tom, C.D., Frank, Lewis, Jack; her sister, Cornelia Hoover. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church. Pastor John Trump will officiate. The family will receive friends in the church at 10:00 A.M., one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 1416 Broad River Rd., Columbia, S.C. 29210. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is entrusted with the arrangements.
