Obituary of Myrtle Kyzer Spigner

WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Myrtle Kyzer Spigner, 91, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 1127 Olympia Ave, Columbia, with burial in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015, at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Mrs. Spigner entered the Church Triumphant on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Agape Senior Lexington. Born in Lexington County, she was the oldest daughter of the late J. Quincy and Etolia Taylor Kyzer. Upon her parents death in the 1990's she became the Matriarch of the Kyzer/Spigner families. She was married to the late Jack Prince Spigner for 55 years and was retired from Airport High School where she worked and operated the canteen and also worked in the student library. Mrs. Spigner was a faithful member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Columbia where she sang in the choir and a friend to all in the Olympia community. Known for her many talents, Mrs. Spigner enjoyed designing and sewing and her greatest passion was dancing. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Surviving are daughters, Sherrie Swygert (Frank) of Palm City, FL, Donna Kinard (Doug) of West Columbia and Drenia Frampton of Chapin; grandchildren, Randy Arant, Melanie Fisher, Jay Canup, Susan Dakes, Jody Bass, Cary Bass-Deschenes, Christopher Bass, Jackie Tillison and Troy C. Stork, 21 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sister, Helen Shuler of Lexington; brothers, J.D. Kyzer of West Columbia and George "Melt" Kyzer of Conway. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffery Craig Arant. The family wishes to thank the staff of Agape Senior- Lexington and all of her friends that supported her in her final years.
