Obituary of Homer W. Cooper

Gaston - Homer W. "Bill" Cooper of Gaston, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015. He was born November 3, 1927 in Newlyn, West Virginia to the late Homer A. and Beatrice Cooper. Mr. Cooper was a retired US Army Sgt 1st Class, serving in three wars, WWII, Korean and Vietnam. He was a highly decorated veteran with multiple awards and commendations including the Bronze Star. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; children, Donald (Debra) Gainey, Sonya Gainey, Billy (Wendy) Cooper and Cathy (Jason) Rich; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
