Obituary of Gladys Burkholder Dennis

MANNING - Funeral service for Gladys Burkholder Dennis, 87, will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Thompson Funeral Home is assisting the family. Mrs. Dennis passed away peacefully January 18, 2015 at her home in Columbia. She was born on February 25, 1927 in Farmersville, Pennsylvania to the late Irvin and Bertha Klein Burkholder. She was married to the late William Clay Dennis for 61 years until his death in 2011. Mrs. Dennis graduated from East Stroudsburg Teachers College in the late 1940's and became a public school teacher. She enjoyed golfing with her husband and friends. Mrs. Dennis traveled the world with her husband and daughter until her retirement to Manning. Gladys is survived by her daughter, Marilyn-Kay Mark Casto (Anna Russell) of the home; three sisters, Iris, Phyllis and Janice; and best friend, Laura Harrington (Paul) of Manning. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased in death by a sister Doris.
