Obituary of SRA Jonathan Lawrence Laymon

West Columbia - SRA Jonathan Lawrence Laymon, 26, of West Columbia, entered into rest Monday, February 2, 2015. Born March 7, 1988 in Columbia, he was a son of Larry and Susan Laymon. Jonathan was currently enlisted in the US Air Force, currently stationed at McEntire JNGB. Jonathan had been with the Air Force for 7 years and during his tenure he had served 3 tours; in Iraq, Afghanistan and Jordan. Jonathan was an F-16 Bomb Loading Expert and was also a member of the LSC (Loading Standardization Crew). He had received many awards and medals during his service which include: the Air Force Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for the 169th AMXS. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Kristin Jordan (Cogdill) Laymon; brothers, Andrew "Drew" and Benjamin (fiancée Cara Brooks) Laymon; numerous extended family, friends as well as his Swamp Fox family. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 with Chaplains Bohlman and McEntire officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 (Noon) to 2:00 P.M., the day of the graveside service at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
