Obituary of Norma Lucille Grice

Columbia-Norma Lucille Grice, 87, beloved wife of Thomas Carroll Grice, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Mrs. Grice was born November 14, 1927, in Roanoke Rapids, NC, a daughter of the late Nick Harris and Mamie Durham Jones. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and attended the church on Fort Jackson Boulevard, Columbia. She served in the church's Relief Society for 20 years, and also in the church's genealogical library for 20 years. Additionally, Mr. and Mrs. Grice served a one-year mission at the genealogy library in Salt Lake City, UT. She had an abiding love of family history and spent many years researching her family's roots. Mrs. Grice was employed by Anchor Continental (now Smith-Nephew) in Columbia, for 27 years, where she was the traffic manager. Surviving are her husband of almost 70 years; two daughters, Kitty Warren (James), and Brenda Carter, both of Columbia; sister, Faye Johnson (Cecil) of Winnsboro; seven grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; as well as several of her beloved Barnes family cousins in Henderson, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Toni Lynn Grice (age 5); and a son-in-law, John T. Carter, Sr. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015, at 1:00 P.M., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4440 Fort Jackson Boulevard, Columbia, SC 29209, with Bishop Bronson Titus officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
