Obituary of Wydell Hall

Funeral services for Wydell "Dell" Hall, 85, of Lexington SC, will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 at 2 PM, with the Revered Dave Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park following the service. The family will greet friends from 1 PM-2 PM preceding the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Hall passed away on February 10, 2015. Born in Patrick County VA, he was a son of the late, John C. Hall and Mattie Mae (Harold) Hall. He was a member of Northwood Baptist Church, serving on several committees and was a trustee for many years. He was a proud United States Air Force Veteran, dedicating over 20 years of faithful service to his country. After his retirement, he managed Richland Bowl, and Star Lanes Bowling Center, even becoming a professional bowler during that time. Dell also spent 10 years as the owner of Halls Auto Sales, where he enjoyed buying and selling cars. He was an avid and devoted Gamecock Fan, attending as many games as he could while he was able. Dell enjoyed his quiet time as well. He enjoyed watching the geese on his property by the lake. Dell was a caring and devoted husband, as well as a loving father and grandfather. He always kept photos of his family not only in his wallet, but in frames when he traveled. Dell most loved times with his family. Whether it was Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, or the yearly family reunions in Mt. Airy, NC, he cherished those times. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Dell is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois Evelyn (O'Dell) Hall of Lexington, SC, daughters; Debby Christie (Cubby) of Lexington SC, Sandy Walker (Damon) of Lexington, SC, grandchildren; Dixon, Devin and Daley Walker of Lexington SC, a sister; Elva Brannock (Lewis) of Portsmouth VA, brothers; Olin Hall (Mary Ann) of Monroe, NC and Stacy Wilkinson (Luray) of Wauconda IL and many nieces and nephews. Dell is predeceased by a son John D. Hall, and several brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations may be made to the building fund at Northwood Baptist Church, 5236 Sunset Blvd, Lexington SC 29072.
