Obituary of Maxine Spires

Cayce - Maxine Spires, 78 died peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 after a short battle with an un-known illness, then Lymphoma. Maxine led a full active life until shortly after Thanksgiving 2014. Maxine was the only child of Miles and Anna Reed Fogle. She graduated from BC High School and was a proud member of the BC marching band. She attended nursing school at Allamance County for her LPN degree, then USC for her RN degree. Maxine and CW were active in Broadacres Baptist church where she sang in the choir and planned activities for the senior group after she retired. Maxine enjoyed crafts, painting, poetry, music, singing, quilting and hanging out and traveling with her boyfriend, Bill Futral. Maxine is survived by five of her children and their spouses, Arthur 'Bill' and Linda Spires, Cindy Ford, Tim and Teresa Spires, John and Vicky Spires, Kandy and Dwight Rabon; eight grandchildren, Christopher Ford (Cindy), James and Thomas Spires (Arthur), Danielle and Destiny Spires (Tim), Aarin McNeely and Lauren Drake (Tim's stepchildren), Jessie Spires (John); two great-grandchildren, Savannah Spires (Bill/Thomas) and Cooper Smith (Tim/Danielle). Maxine was predeceased by her parents, Miles and Anna Reed Fogle of West Columbia, SC; and her husband, Carroll Wayne "CW" Spires of Cayce, SC; and her first baby, Robert Wayne Spires. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Broadacres Baptist Church, 2350 Taylor Road, Cayce, on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery in Pelion, SC.
