Obituary of Robert Leland Brown

Hopkins - Robert Leland Brown, 75, of Hopkins, South Carolina passed away February 19, 2015 at Providence Hospital Columbia, South Carolina. He was born on June 7, 1939 in Maysville, South Carolina to the late Felix and Mary Brown. Robert was a proud United States Navy veteran with service during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired butcher, with service all thru the Sumter and Columbia Area. Robert had a kind and gentle heart. He loved his wife, Penny, with all of his heart, never missing an opportunity to tell her. His easy going spirit will be missed Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years Penny G. Brown, of Hopkins, SC; a son, Harry Lee Bryant, of Hopkins, SC; brothers, James A. Brown, Sr. (Maggie) of Columbia SC, Reverend Will R. Brown, of Inman, SC; and a sister, Virginia Brown Burgh of Indian Town, SC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209, on Sunday, February 22, 2015 from 2 PM - 3 PM. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel following the visitation with the Reverend Will R. Brown officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 directly following the service.
