Obituary of Milo Porter Fallaw
Gaston - Milo Porter Fallaw, 87, of Gaston, SC, passed away on February 25, 2015 after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday March 1, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. The Rev. Gary Farmer will officiate. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens in West Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday February 28, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
Milo was born in Gaston, SC on September 8, 1927 to the late Ellen Sharpe Fallaw. A lifelong resident of Gaston, SC, he retired in 1989 from Savannah River Plant after 38 years. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Guam after WWII before being Honorably Discharged. Among Milo's many friends, he was best known for his sincerity and sense of humor. He truly touched and influenced everyone he met. For his sons, he will always be remembered as a hero and the greatest inspiration of their lives. Milo was known for his ingenuity and as a person who could fix anything. He loved his family and his beloved beagles. He was an avid sportsman and member of the South Edisto Hunt Club for over 40 years.
One constant in Milo's life was his deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. We know today that he sits with Him. No few words can express the influence that Milo had on his world, his family, and his friends. Simply put, he will be missed, and the world is a smaller place without him.
Milo is predeceased by his wife Helen Ophelia "Phoebe" Smith Fallaw; two brothers, Elzie (Madeline) and Willard (Elizabeth) Fallaw and a sister, Verdie (Tom) Davis. He is survived by two sons, Tim (Gail) Fallaw and Mark (Lynne) Fallaw, both of Gaston; his granddaughters, Dana Bullock of Gaston, Taylor Cain of Athens, GA, Riley Cain of Atlanta, GA, Erin Fallaw of Prosperity, and Chapin Fallaw of Gaston; a grandson, Bryan Bullock; two nephews, Al (Carla) Fallaw of Gilbert, Denny Fallaw of Gaston and a niece, Judy Hrinda of Chapin. He also leaves behind a dear and beloved friend of over two decades, Ramona Scott of Gaston.
