Obituary of Dennis F. Drennan

A Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of Dennis F. Drennan, 66, of Lexington, will be celebrated Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal), 1512 Blanding Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Father James Lyon will be celebrant. The family will receive friends following the Mass in the Parish Hall. Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family. Mr. Drennan passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 at his residence. Born in Syracuse, New York, he was a son of Lucile Hurst Drennan, and the late James F. Drennan, Jr. He graduated from Graniteville High School and attended the University of South Carolina. He enlisted in the US Navy, and proudly and honorably served his country for four years. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sheila Toole Drennan; daughter, Angel D. Abston of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Michael Bradley Abston of Louisville, KY, Chase Andrew Abston of Virginia Beach and Courtney Allison Abston of Virginia Beach; brother, James Drennan (Sylvia Corley-Drennan) of West Columbia; sister, Grace D. Miller (Reed) of North Augusta, and a large and loving extended family. He was predeceased by his father and his brother, Kenneth Paul Drennan. The family would like to thank staff nurses Ann and Dusty from South Carolina Oncology Associates, and his Amedisys nurse Danie for their loving care while he fought a courageous battle with cancer.
