Obituary of Johngy Yvonne Boggs Lee

Mrs. Johngy Yvonne Boggs Lee, age 84, went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2015. She was the widow of Philip Roger Lee who preceded her in death in 1996. A visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and A Celebration of Life service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. will precede the interment at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC on Saturday, March 14, 2015. A family burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park immediately following the chapel service. Mrs. Lee was born February 28, 1931, in Lincoln County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Jay and Mildred Boggs. She was a graduate of Lincolnton NC High School, a graduate of Winthrop College in 1953 and graduate courses from USC. She taught Biology at Wardlaw High School in Columbia, SC for three years. She married Philip R. Lee in 1955 and dedicated her life to her family. She volunteered at the local schools while raising her children and caring for aging parents, later she was available to help with her grandchildren. She loved to travel and research family genealogy. She traveled all over the United States and into Canada, Australia, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, Austria, Greece and Mexico. She was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church and Trenholm Road United Methodist Church. Mrs. Lee is survived by her three children, Richard J. Lee (Susan Peters), Jayda L. Wilson (John), John S. Lee (Lisa). She has five grandchildren, Ben Wilson (Valeri), Katie Wilson (James), Carson Lee, Sydney Lee, Houston Lee, and two step-grandchildren, David Peters and Lisa Peters. Three great-grandchildren, Audrey Grace Wilson, Walker Lee Wilson, Ramsey Lane Wilson. Other surviving relatives, two sisters, Polly Bryant, Ann Raye (Bobby); Sister-in-law, Betty Lee Blake; three nieces, Yvonne Modlin (Nathan), Holly Steele (Fred), Millie Probst (Perry); four nephews, Brian Blake (Tammy), Jeffery Raye, Norman Raye, and David Raye (Susan). Our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful, caring and compassionate caregivers who assisted in Mom's care during her last days with us and for the love and support of our friends by holding us in your loving arms and lifting us up daily in your prayers! We love you!
