Obituary of Charles Kenneth Yelton

Charles Kenneth Yelton, 90, of Columbia entered into rest, Saturday, March 21, 2015 at his home. Born Sunday, October 12, 1924 in Rutherford County, NC he was a son of the late June E. and Ella (Lackey) Yelton. A veteran of the US Navy, Charles served admirably during WWII. A resident of Columbia for more than 45 years, he was also a lifetime member of the VFW. In addition to his parents, Mr. Yelton was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Mary Elizabeth (Watkins) Yelton; and a sister, Ruby Ellis. He is survived by his wife Brenda (Turner) Yelton; two daughters, Anna Deloris Sistare (Bart), of Saluda, and Sarah Elizabeth Durham (Joe), of Norton, KS; son, Ronald Eugene Yelton (Ginger), of Summerville, SC; step-daughter, Charlene Ryan; brother, Eddie J. Yelton (Annette), of Hartsville; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M., on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 with Rev. Bart Sistare officiating. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
