Obituary of Paul W. Mullins

Corporal Paul W. Mullins, US Army, (Ret), 69 , of Columbia, South Carolina, Went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. He was born on May 20, 1945 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia to George and Calli Estelle (Barker) Mullins. A very proud military veteran, Paul answered his county's call, serving in the country on Vietnam. A fierce soldier, he was wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart. Paul had a wonderful sense of humor. He was quick with a joke and loved to make you laugh. Paul enjoyed western movies and television programs, he enjoyed them all. Paul also enjoyed traveling. He went nationwide, touring military bases and historic sites. Paul was a selfless giver. He enjoyed collecting pocket knives, but would give them away as soon as he got them. Paul was a Christian thru and thru. He enjoyed fellowship with his church family. He continued to serve the Lord and his county by volunteering to be the Chaplin for the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Paul most loved his family. He enjoyed watching his boys play sports, and especially enjoyed Christmas. He enjoyed giving gifts, but had a difficult time waiting until Christmas Day to give his gifts. His kind and generous heart will be missed. Paul is survived by his wife of 38 years; Catherine Louise Mullins, a son; Chaddrick Russell Mullins, sisters; Beaty Eagle (Neal) and Vicky Crawford (Dennis). He is also survived by his grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews. Paul is predeceased by his parents; George Washington Mullins and Calli Estelle Mullins, and a son; George Andrew Mullins, brothers; George Mullins, Jimmy Mullins, Frank Mullins, and Lomas Mullins, Billy Mullins and Robert Mullins, sisters; Jewel Mullins and Linda Mullins. The family will receive friends at Thompsons Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC, 29209 on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 5:00PM - 6:00PM Funeral services will be at 6:00PM following the visitation in the Chapel of the funeral home Theodore Jenkins officiating. Interment will be at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery at a time to be announced later. Memorials may be made to the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 402, PO Box 9681, Columbia, SC, 29209-9681.
