Obituary of Sam Ray Sharpe

Sam Ray Sharpe, 87, of Lynchburg, VA, died March 27th, 2015. Sam Sharpe was born in Chappells, South Carolina on November 18, 1927 and he was the last survivor of his immediate family. He married his wife Bette on October 13, 1949 and they enjoyed 65 loving years together. Sam served his country in both the Air Force and the Army and later went on to work for Westvaco for 42 years where he retired as a safety and maintenance manager for the bleach board division. He was a devoted and loving father and husband who enjoyed the outdoors including camping and fishing with his family. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his son Swaim, his daughter Gaynell, and his two granddaughters, Cara and Natasha. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 2 PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside service at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
