Obituary of Mary Belle Bland Pound

Mary Bland Pound, age 92, passed away on March 29, 2015 in Providence Hospital. Born on February 28, 1923 in Rose Hill, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John David and Elizabeth Ezzell Bland. Survivors are her husband, Marvin Pound; sons, Marvin Pound, Jr. (Jane) and Charles Pound (Brenda); daugther, Beth Cope (Warren); grandsons, Brian Pound (Patricia), Michael Pound, Noel Pound (Crystal), Brantley Cope; granddaughters, Ashley Yarbrough (Will), Lindsay Benko (Andy), Megan Roe (Nich); and great grandchildren, Brian Pound, Amber Pound, Carsyn Pound, Ayers Yarbrough, Mary Martin Yarbrough, and Harper Benko; and sister-in-law, Vivian Pound. She was preceded in death by a brother, Graham Bland. Mary was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a great friend to many. She will be greatly missed by everyone she touched and remembered through all of her lasting contributions to her family, church, and community. Services will be held at Gaston First Baptist Church on April 1, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. with the Reverend Dr. Larry Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and family immediately following the services at the home of Warren and Beth Cope, 1260 Mack Street, Gaston. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to Gaston First Baptist Church, 121 Oakey Springs Drive, Gaston, SC 29053. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Aharva Hospice, Quan, Tawanda, Deborah, Jeanette, Olene, Paulette, Kim, and Sonya for their kind and compassionate care during Mary's decline in health as well as Providence Hospital and Hospice care.
