Obituary of Jean Oswald

Jean Kelly Oswald ,82, of West Columbia passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at her home. She was born on April 27, 1932 in West Columbia to the late John L. and Bertha Neeley Kelly. Mrs. Oswald was an avid golfer who won multiple club championships and had at least four hole-in-ones. She also loved gardening and was known for her green thumb. Mrs. Oswald was a longtime member of Congaree Baptist Church. Jean is survived by sons, Roscoe "Rocky" Oswald, Jr. (Sallie), Anthony "Tony" Oswald (Linda) and Kevin Oswald (Phyllis); daughter, Charlotte Oswald Bryant (Tom); grandchildren, Stephanie Allen, Roscoe "Stony" Oswald, III, Ashley Oswald, Austin Oswald, Sarah Scott, Jarritte Bryant; and two great grandsons, Sam and Buck Allen. Also surviving are two sisters, Geneva Shields and Aileen Taylor; sister in-law, Lucille Kelly and brother in-law, Leo Reh. In addition to her husband, Roscoe Oswald, Sr. and her parents she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Woodrow, Cleve, Reynard, Robert, John, Earl and Nink Kelly; five sisters, Edna Hoffman, Joyce Graham, Ellen Marthers, Era Reh and Gertrude Spigner. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at Congaree Baptist Church with Rev. Milford Oswald, Jr. officiating.
