Obituary of SFC Jack C Redemann

SFC Jack C. Redemann, (US Army ret), 80, of Columbia, entered into rest, Friday, April 3, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Born January 16, 1935 in Camden, NJ he was a son of the late Jack F., Sr., and Bertha (Wormwood) Redemann. Mr. Redemann served as a Parachute Rigger and Aerial Delivery Technician during the Korean conflict. He served with the 2nd B.G. 187th Infantry, 101st Air Borne Division, and successfully made more than 60 jumps. Special assignments included Ft. Benning, GA, for the Dept. of the Army Personnel Prototype Project and later as Chief Administrative SGT of the South Eastern NATO Headquarters in Naples, Italy. He served two tours in Alaska and one tour in Vietnam. Jack retired from Ft. Jackson after 21 years as a Senior NCO in the Finance and Accounting Office 1970-1972. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Louis Redemann; as well as a stepson, Stephen Welch. He is survived by his wife of more than 35 years, Ina Redemann; sons, Carl Redemann (Barbara) of Matthews, NC and Mark Redemann, of New Hope, MN; two granddaughters, Whitney and Kelsey; four step-children, Mike Welch (Judy), Lynn Ward (Butch), Susie Brazell (Robbie) and Lizzy Straw (Allen); ten step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Friday April 10, 2015 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229, with Chaplain Joe Parker officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), 6437 Garners Ferry Rd, Columbia, SC 29209. Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park is assisting the family.
