Obituary of Donald F. Gainey

Donald F. Gainey, Jr., 52, went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Gainey was born in Columbia, SC on April 20, 1962. He was the son of Judith Z. Cooper and the late Donald F. Gainey, Sr. Mr. Gainey grew up in West Virginia and was a graduate of Midland Trail High School and was the owner of Gainey Welding Service. Mr. Gainey was an avid fisherman and loved spending his free time fishing with his wife, Debra. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Homer W. Cooper. Left to cherish his wonderful memory are his loving wife, Debra Gainey; his mother, Judith Z. Cooper; stepmother, Linda Gainey; stepdaughter, Lynn (Terry) Harris; stepsons, Danny and Brian Gonzales; grandchildren, Brook (Cody) Keisler and Olivia Staggs; sister, Sonya Gainey; brothers, Billy (Wendy) Cooper, Paul (Tina) Gainey, Cathy (Jason) Rich, Jeff (Della) Gainey, and numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of other loving relatives and friends all of whom will miss him dearly. Mr. Gainey was a member of Convent Baptist Church, Leesville, SC. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, from 6 to 8pm at Thompson Funeral Home, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC. Funeral services will be at 3pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Convent Baptist Church, 787 Convent Church Road, Leesville, SC, 29070. Interment will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens, West Columbia, SC.
