Obituary of Lydia Lazaro

Dr. Lydia Lazaro, 89, of Lexington formerly of Bridgeport, WV passed away April 4, 2015 at Lexington Medical Center. She was born on November 18, 1925 in Naga City, Philippines to the late Eligio and Dionisia Corporal Legaspi. Dr. Lazaro came to the US in 1958 and practiced psychiatry in West Virginia until her retirement in 1973. She was an active member of her church and local community organizations in West Virginia before moving to South Carolina. Dr. Lazaro was an avid WVU Mountaineer sports fan. Lydia is survived by four sons, Jaime Lazaro, Jessie Lazaro, Joe Lazaro and Dr. John Michael Lazaro; three daughters, Leila Ruedy, Liza Matz and Leigh Warf. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Dr. Jaime Lazaro and her parents she was preceded in death by one grandchild, Jessica Lazaro; one brother and a sister. Funeral services will be held in West Virginia. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is handling local arrangements. Memorials may be made to PETS, Inc. or Cullens Archangel Rescue.
