Obituary of Emily Delane Martin

Emily Delane Martin, 77, of Blythewood entered into rest, April 8, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Born February 15, 1938 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Malcolm C. and Wilma (Justin) Sessions. Mrs. Martin was the rock that held her family together, and she dedicated her life to the physical and emotional well-being of not only her five children, but to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. Mrs. Martin was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter E. Martin, Jr., with whom she shared a union of more than 54 years. She is survived by her children, Janet M. Fischer; Steve E. Martin (Roxanne), Kenneth R. Martin, Sr. (Lorraine), Connie M. Vaughn (Steve) and Thomas J. Martin (Cindy); 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family requests that the dress code include casual attire for Mrs. Martin's services.
