Obituary of Doris Elizabeth Harwell

Doris Elizabeth Harwell, 77, of West Columbia, wife of Benjamin Dulany Harwell, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at Agape Hospice House Columbia, South Carolina. She was born on October 11, 1937 in Olanta, SC to the late Rufus Kirby and Eula Mae Miles Kirby. Doris was a loving homemaker and a devout member of West Side Baptist Church. Doris was a remarkable and wonderful mother and grandmother. In addition to her loving husband of 61 years, she is survived by two daughters, Debra K. Lang and Carol E. Baker (Frank); one son, William T. Harwell; four grandsons, Jeremy, Darryl, William Jr and Justin Harwell; one granddaughter, Marianne Wolff; daughter-in-law Bet Harwell; and many brothers and sisters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Richard Harwell; a grandson, Brian Baker; and son-in-law, Greg Lang. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015 at West Side Baptist Church, 2100 Platt Springs Road, West Columbia. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street in West Columbia on Sunday, April 19, 2015.
