Obituary of Willie Vaughn White

Bonnie White, of Columbia, SC passed away April 20, 2015 at her home. She was born on December 3, 1928 in Batesburg, SC to the late Broadus and Lou (Maddox) Hartley. Bonnie was the epitome of a great wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an independent thinker and spoke her mind when necessary. Bonnie enjoyed the simple things in life. She liked to work in the yard when she was able. She was a wonderful cook. Bonnie had special recipes for pecan pie, brown rice and sweet potato soufflé that were family favorites. She enjoyed going to church and was a regular volunteer. At her church, the first pew to the right will always be her place. Bonnie very much loved her family. During holidays, family trips to the beach and mountains or any excuse to get the family together for a meal were treasured times. Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert White of Columbia, SC; a daughter, Millie Hopkins of Columbia, SC; a son, Robert White, Jr. of Hopkins, SC; two grandchildren Addie Hopkins, of St. Louis, MO, and Catherine Hopkins of New York City, NY. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her brother, Buckey and her sister, Eloise. Graveside services will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 12 PM with Reverend Sharon Long officiating.
