Obituary of Miriam Waters Gay

Miriam "Tiny" Waters Gay, 94, of Columbia, entered into rest Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Born December 5, 1920 in Screven County, GA, she was a daughter of the late James Edward and Mary Lucinda (Burke) Waters. She was married to the late Aubrey Gay for 40 years and was a member of Rosewood Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for several years. She also served as the pianist for the Adult Sunday School assembly for many years and was a member of the WMU, Young at Hearts as well as a member of the choir. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lina Hunter, Juel Turner and Mary Turner Mrs. Gay is survived by her daughter, Marsha G. Solley (David); two sisters-in-law, Wilma and Vera; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the funeral home.
