Obituary of Hortense Ferrell

Hortense Ferrell, 94, of West Columbia passed away peacefully on May 8, 2015. She was born in Buck Horn, North Carolina to the late William and Carrie Moore. She was a member of D.A.V. Auxiliary and Past Commander and Treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary. She taught the Joy Sunday School Class and was a member of the local AARP Chapter. She is also a life-long member of Green Hill Baptist Church. She organized events for the Sunshine Group of Green Hill Baptist Church. Hortense is survived by her son, William Steven and his wife Joyce Ferrell of West Columbia. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Bramlett of Summit. She also leaves behind, one grandchild, Randy and wife Kim Ferrell of Lexington and great grandchild, Owen Ferrell of Lexington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd and her daughter, Sandra K. and her two brothers. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 6-8PM. Funeral services will held at the Green Hill Baptist Church, West Columbia on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 10am. Interment will be in Celestial Memorial Gardens.
