Obituary of Glenn Darrell King
Funeral services for Glenn Darrell King, age 93 of Cayce, SC will be held at 12:00PM, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at State Street Baptist Church with Dr. Pete Cassidy officiating. Burial will follow at Woodridge Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11AM-12PM prior to the service.
Mr. King, beloved husband of Frances Greene King for 68 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2015. Born in SC, he was the son of the late Dock Harris King and Bertha Trammell King. He was a World War II veteran servicing for 4 years in the U.S. Army. He fought in the European Theater assigned to the 124th Armored Engineer Battalion, 13th Armored Division, 3rd Army. He was a member of State Street Baptist Church. He retired from Pennsylvania National Insurance Company after 30 years as a claims adjuster and then manager. He loved nature, the beach, and the mountains, but especially he cherished his boyhood summers spent in the mountains near Hendersonville, NC.
He was a loving father to his daughter, Lynda King Hoffman (Van); a devoted grandfather to Erik Hoffman (Sommer) of West Columbia, Zack Hoffman (Lauren) of Savannah, Ga and Chad Hoffman of Cayce; and enjoyed his three sweet great-granddaughters, Rileigh Hoffman, Chloe Hoffman, and Leah Hoffman. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mildred King Williams.
The family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Gardens, Lexington Medical Center, and Agape Hospice House for the kindness and care that was shown.
