Obituary of Betty Jean Hickox

Betty Jean Hickox, 67, of Hopkins, SC, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, May 25, 2015. Jean was born in Horry County, SC to Vera Foley Thomas and the late James Brown. She graduated from Floyd's High School in 1966. After High School, Jean worked at U.S. Textiles and most recently the Piggly Wiggly. Jean is survived by her husband of 14 years, James E. Hickox; a son, Edward Dwayne Doyle; a grandson, Asa Doyle; and a step-daughter, Darlene Hickox. She is also survived by her mother, Vera Thomas; step-father, Richard Thomas; a sister, Gail McRae; and a brother, Larry Brown. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Johnny Brown and Jimmy Brown. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 on Friday from 5 PM until 7 PM. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 AM with Reverend Ken Kepler officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park following the ceremony.
