Obituary of Edna Boykin Swygert

Funeral services for Edna Boykin Swygert, 92 of West Columbia will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015 at Elmwood Avenue Church of God, 1427 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia with visitation and viewing 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens . Mrs. Swygert passed away June 8, 2015. She was born on February 11, 1923 in Lee County to the late Frank Duffie and Mary Jane Rodgers Boykin. Edna served as a volunteer for The National Federation of the Blind and Meals on Wheels. She was a longtime member of the Elmwood Avenue Church of God where she supervised the nursery for over 40 years. Edna is survived by a sister, Myrtle Lee Davis and a brother, David Boykin. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews whom loved her very dearly. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Earl Rogers Swygert in 2001; brother, Floyd H Boykin; and sisters, Clara Belle Boykin, Ila Mae Sharp and Frances Beasley Lucas. Memorials may be made to Elmwood Avenue Church of God or to a charity of one's choice.
