Obituary of Anneliese Summey

Anneliese "Ann" Börnke Summey, 79, of Columbia, SC, departed from her earthly home after a long battle with Dementia and COPD to be with her Lord Jesus on Thursday, July 23, 2015. She was born May 29, 1936 in Dortmund, Germany, to the late Werner Wilhelm Börnke and Amalie Louise Kruger. Ann became a US citizen in 1962. Ann worked at Siebels Bruce, Farm Bureau, Anchor Continental, and later retired from DHEC in 2009 after working there 11 years. Ann loved reading books, watching wrestling and Chuck Norris in "Walker, Texas Ranger". She enjoyed music by Elton John. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, retired 1SG James W. Summey; her two daughters, Karen A. Venne of West Columbia and Beverly E. Roberts of Lexington; two step-daughters, Wanda K. Sayles and Brenda L. Kailieha of Honolulu, Hawaii; six grandchildren Cynthia Cummings, Roger Venne, Adam Summey, Austin, Aaron and Chloe Fink and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park located at 845 Leesburg Road in Columbia, SC on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 11 AM until 12 Noon followed by a Celebration of Life service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 2 PM. The family would like to thank Hospice Advantage for all their compassion and care during Mom's illness.
