Obituary of Benjamin Wright Rekers

Lexington: Benjamin Wright Rekers died peacefully in the arms of his loving parents on July 30, 2015. After coming into this world, he fought courageously for 30 minutes as mommy was being closed up from a cesarean. The last 18 precious and unforgettable minutes of his life were spent being loved on by his parents. Although his earthly body was flawed, he was perfect in every way. He weighed 4 pounds 7.1 ounces and was 14.5 inches long. Benjamin was the beloved son of Timothy and Jamie Rekers and baby brother to Ethan and Eli of Lexington, SC. He is survived by maternal grandparents, James and Gail Wright; paternal grandparents, George and Sharon Rekers; aunts and uncles, Justin (Nicole) Wright, Steven (Paige) Rekers, Andrew (Megan) Rekers, Matthew (Kayla) Rekers, Mark (Amanda) Rekers, and Brandon Rekers; maternal great-grandparents, Deloris Crawford, and Mark and Nancy Wright. He is also survived by numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins. Benjamin is being greeted in Heaven by his big sister, Adley; maternal great-grandfather, Robert Kendall Crawford; paternal great-grandparents, Chalmer and Emma Chapin and Roger and Helen Rekers. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6 at 3:00 p.m. in Boyce Chapel at First Baptist Church of Columbia. A visitation will immediately follow the service in Ellis Hall. After Benjamin's diagnosis, Tim and Jamie really felt God leading them to grow their family through adoption. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Christian Services earmarked for Tim and Jamie Rekers' adoption. Donations are not tax deductible. Bethany Christian Services, Attn: Tim and Jamie Rekers' Adoption Fund, 1612 Marion Street, Suite 206, Columbia, SC 29201. We thank God for our wonderful little miracle who we look forward to being reunited with one day in heaven.
