Obituary of Frances Blalock Bowling

She graduated from Union High school then attended Limestone College, majoring in English and French. Frances taught school for a short time, but quit to marry her high school sweetheart, Dwight Bowling. Work eventually took the young couple to Columbia, SC where they lived until retirement. They then moved to Greenwood, SC to be near their son. Mrs. Bowling's happiest career was being a homemaker. She treasured being a stay at home mom and her family was her life. She exhibited how important it was to be a good and moral person, respecting and valuing people, yet always flavoring each situation with a little bit of humor. By example, she loved in every way possible. She made people and their lives her focus. Frances' countless creative ideas made her a wonderful teacher and mother. She and Dwight were longtime active members of Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia, where she worked in Sunday school and sang in the choir. While living in Greenwood, she was a member of South Main Baptist Church. Frances was also active in her garden club where she pursued her love of flowers. Her home was always open for friends and fellowship. Mrs. Bowling is the last surviving member of her family which included three brothers and a sister.
