Obituary of Charles Christopher Elliott

Charles Christopher "Chris" Elliott, 63, passed away at his home in Columbia, South Carolina. He was born on August 3, 1952 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Charles and Frances Barnette Elliott. Chris served in the United States Army where he was a Russian linguist. Chris attended East Carolina University then graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology. Later he attended college in Greenville, SC, garnering a degree as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist. Chris had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He would light up a room whenever he entered with a smile or a small explosive. A hard worker, he spent 22 years in the radiology field. He started at WJB Dorn Veterans Medical Facility and recently retired from Fort Jackson's Moncrief Hospital. Chris enjoyed fishing, scuba diving and most water sports. He truly loved the outdoors. Chris will be missed by those he loved and those who loved him. Charles is survived by his sisters: Deborah Elliott Kielwein (John) of Edenton NC, Leslie Elliott (Dana Loomis) of Lyon, France, and Stephanie Hill Elliott of East Bend, NC, nieces: Louise Brock of Reno, NV and Leigh Ulrich of Rocky Mount, NC. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 2 PM at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
