Obituary of Violet Wood

Violet Wood, 96, of West Columbia, wife to the late Andrew Durham "Bull" Wood Sr., passed away August 12, 2015. She was born on May 1, 1919 in Columbia SC to late Henry Louis and Mary Cope Crede. She was a member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia where she was a kindergarten teacher. She also worked for S.H. Kress & Company for many years. She is survived by a son, Andrew Durham "Butch" Wood Jr.; two daughters, Donna Blake (Kenneth) and Andrea Williams; one grandchild, Missy Letrick (Pat); four great-grandchildren, Jason Ridgeway, Tyler Blake, Sim and Mattlyn Garrick. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by two brothers, Alan and H.W. Crede. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, August 14, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.
