Obituary of Richard Calvin Mizzell, Sr.

Richard Mizzell, 85, of Lexington, SC, passed away April 23, 2024 after a brief stay in hospice care.  He was born on Oct 19, 1938 in St. George, SC to Dan and Bertha Mizzell. Richard moved to Lexington, SC in 2013.

Richard retired from Blue Circle Cement (formerly Gifford Hill Cement) where he helped in construction of the plant that opened in 1974.  He enjoyed farming the land where he grew up until an injury limited his ability to continue.  Richard was an avid Clemson fan and especially enjoyed the 2 national championships over Alabama.

He is survived by his son, Richard C. Mizzell, Jr “Dicky” (Lynne) of Lexington, SC; and daughter, Robin Joy Mizzell of St. George; grandchildren, Donnie Coker, Corinne Deisley (Will), and Rich Mizzell (Noelle); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters, 2 brothers and former wife, Stella.

The family will have a private memorial at a later date.
