Obituary of Bernice Ellisor Grigsby

Bernice Ellisor Grigsby was born May 11, 1933 and lived her 90 years in the West Columbia area.  She was a charter member of Oakwood Baptist Church and loved teaching four and five year olds in her retirement.

 

Those left to carry on her legacy include two sons, Ernie (Carol) Grigsby and Ray (Janet) Grigsby; a daughter, Joye (Jimmy) Hipp; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Thalia Ellisor Deaver.

 

She has been reunited with her husband of 60 years, Tommie Glen Grigsby; parents, Ernest Olee Ellisor and Susilue Hatchell Ellisor; brothers, Philip (Hilda) Ellisor and George (Ruth) Ellisor; and sister, Shelvy Ann (George) Ellisor Sturkie.

 

All are welcome to attend the graveside service on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC.  Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Welcome Center of Oakwood Baptist Church, 3520 Mineral Springs Road, Lexington, SC. 

 

A heartfelt thank you to Shema, Mary, Glennis, and Ruth from Right at Home for the love and care shown for the past three years.
