Carolyn Maass

Obituary of Carolyn Maass

Carolyn M. Maass, age 79 of Lexington, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024.

Carolyn spent most of her career working in childcare and was affectionately known as the “baby whisperer”. She was a member of Lexington Baptist Church for many years. Carolyn never seemed to have met a stranger and would help others as she could with a kind word or a listening ear. She was an avid crafter and loved to share her handmade items with others. Over the years, she has taught Sunday school, worked in childcare, sewing rooms, and even as a receptionist for a dance studio, where she also took ballroom dance lessons. She loved cats and had many items in her home featuring cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Verma McCormack; brother, William McCormack; sister, Jean Keisler; brother, Tommy McCormack; and sister, Mildred Brown.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sister, Almeta Keisler; daughter, Candy Courtney; son, Donald Maass; son, James Maass; and daughter, Wanda Dell. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren which are many, and countless others that she considered to be family.

The family will gather Friday, April 12th at 6PM at Lexington Baptist Church in the old chapel, to receive friends. A memorial service will follow at 7PM.
