Obituary of Millie Lee Norton

Millie Norton, age 91, went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2024.

Widow of the late J.P. Norton, Jr. “Jay”. She was the only child of the late Willie and Mamie Blalock Robison.

She was a graduate from the Spartanburg School of Nursing and worked at Spartanburg General and Mary Black before moving to the Columbia area in 1969, where she was at Lexington Medical Center Emergency Department for 25 years before she retired.

Millie was strong in her Christian faith and a devoted servant to the Lord, who had a positive impact on many. She was a member of Still Waters Baptist Church in Leesville. She was very faithful in any mission’s work where she traveled overseas for the Lord and was a member of the woman’s missionary union. She was the camp nurse at Camp LaVida for many years, even going last year to provide help as she could.

Surviving are her children, Randy (Cindy) Lemaster of Lexington, Susan “Sam” (Ben) Waters of Leesville, Renee (Bob) Ladrach of Raleigh, NC, Jay (Davida) Norton III of Chapin; eleven grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchildren; and her best friend for 5 years, Stella.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at Still Water Baptist Church on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 1PM. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. The burial will take place on Tuesday, April 9th at 12PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Still Waters Baptist Church or a charity of ones choice.
