Barney Keitt, Jr.

Obituary of Barney Traywick Keitt, Jr.

Barney Traywick Keitt, Jr. entered Heaven Gates March 28, 2024. He was the son of the late Barney T. Keitt Sr. and Rebekah Ringer Keitt; and brother to the late Chris Keitt. He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Loleta Moore Keitt. Also surviving are 6 nieces and 8 nephews whom he loved dearly, and he will be greatly missed by them all. Barney also adored his 3 furbabies: Brendle, Stormy Girl, and Patches, "his luv bugs."

After graduating from Dreher High School in 1961, he joined the Navy and after serving 3 years, he joined The Naval Reserve. He worked in the Welding Industry for 47 years. He grew up at Resurrection Lutheran Church and at the age of 80 years old, he joined and was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church. He was a proud man that Sunday. His wife said she would make a Baptist out of him one day and that she did!

Barney was a former member of the American Legion, The Lions Club of West Columbia, and several Welding Supply Associations. As a long-time member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in West Columbia, S.C. He was very active in many capacities such as Sunday School Superintendent, served on council, and was active on the grounds committee.

Barney was loved by all who met him. He was a dedicated friend, a thoughtful neighbor, and a gentleman. Barney will be missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
