Obituary of Betty Jane Crump

Betty Jane Crump, 91, resided in Gaston, South Carolina. Betty, peacefully transitioned to eternal rest in the embrace of Jesus on February 18, 2024, within the loving presence of her daughter, Tina. In heaven, she is now complete, restored, and renewed.

 

Her departure leaves a great void, yet her impact will endure through the ages, as her legacy becomes a guiding light for generations to come.

 

Betty was born on December 19, 1932 in Johnson City, Tennessee to the Late Ike Hammond (Father) and Late Mammie Susan Johnson (Mother).

 

Betty was a military wife to the Late Sergeant First Class, Henry Charles “Hank” Crump, Jr. She was a good Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Great Aunt, Great Great Aunt and Cousin. She was truly an outstanding human being.

 

From her first marriage, she was blessed to have Barbara Ann (Daughter), John Brown (Late Son-in-Law) and Grayson Bernard (Debi, Daugher-in-Law) Daughtry.

In her second marriage to Sergeant First Class, Henry Charles “Hank” Crump, Jr., she was honored to become a step-mother to Julie (Crump) (Eddie, Son-in-Law) Trigg, LaDonna (Crump) (Phil, Son-in-Law) Warren and Jerry (Sondra, Daughter-in-Law) Crump. Betty and Henry Crump were blessed to adopt Tina Marie (Crump) (Darell, Boyfriend) Brantley.

 

Betty is also survived by her children; her sisters, Ethel (Earl, Late Brother-in-Law) Poate, Caroline (David, Late Brother-in-Law) Clarke; brother, James Roger Good; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 

She was pre-deceased by her sister, Hazel (John, Late Brother-in-Law) Geiger, brothers, Bobby Hammond and Ike Hammond, Jr.

 

Betty was a head cook at the Riverbank Zoo until retirement. Betty’s favorite things to do were to watch the Twilight Series, watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer, read romantic novels, get her hair done, and spend time with her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her four dogs, Coco, Rusty, Peanut and Ivory. She loved sending pictures of her dog, Peanut, to the grandchildren for all birthday cards and Christmas cards. She had a love for shopping at K-Mart, where she would get all her fashionable clothing, jewelry and makeup (red lipstick was her favorite).

 

Betty’s visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, South Carolina. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 2:00pm at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
