Joyce Baldwin

Obituary of Joyce T. Baldwin

We want to announce today, that because of what Jesus did on the cross, our mother, Joyce Baldwin, has passed from this life to everlasting life. Joyce married William Baldwin (deceased 2002) and shared a life and love of ministry of Jesus, and together had a prison ministry and many others. She was always by his side.

Joyce learned piano at 12 by exchanging baby-sitting duties for piano lessons, just so she could play for her church. From there, she played for every church organization, trio, quartet, funeral or wedding, that needed her. Mrs. Baldwin played piano and organ for over 73 years. Her home church was Congaree Baptist and she was a proud member of Lexington Senior Center. Joyce retired from The State Record Newspaper, went on to Huggins Tax Service, retired again, and then went on to volunteer at Lexington Medical Center for 15 more years. Joyce Baldwin lived a life of faith in action, a faith of service and love for Jesus. We watched her share her faith and the gospel, even as she was sick in the hospital. We will remember her smile, her love of music and her faith in Jesus her Savior.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Barbour; son, Bill Baldwin; daughter-in-law, Lora Baldwin; granddaughter, Jessica Barbour; great grandsons, Dakota Hood and Vincent Robinson; and sister-in-law, Gladys Quick. Joyce was the youngest of 6 siblings, all of whom are now deceased.

Joyce requested that all memorials go to Congaree Baptist Church.
