Obituary of Edlyn Shull Kester

Edlyn Shull Kester, 73, of Lexington, SC, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024.  She was born October 25, 1950, in Columbia, SC to Mildred Bundrick Shull and the late Edward Quinton Shull.  

Edlyn worked at both DHEC and Weight Watchers for over 30 years. She was a lifelong member of St. David’s Lutheran and was a Sunday school nursery teacher for more than 40 years.   

She leaves behind her husband, John Y. Kester, Jr.; daughters, Terri Kester and Joni Kester (Walter); grandsons, Jacob, Jared, Joseph, and Jackson; sisters, Judy Bryant (Eddie), Faye Wiemer (Dick), and Shirley Wessinger (Henry); brothers, Danny Shull (Addy) and Wade Shull (Donna); her Aunt Betty; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.  

She is predeceased by her father, and her daughter, April Leigh.  Her heart ached for the little Angels that had left us before: April, Levi, Silas, and Jalyn. 

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 21, in St. David’s Lutheran Church, 132 St. David’s Church Rd., West Columbia, SC 29170.  The family will begin visiting with friends at the church, one hour prior to the service, and burial will follow in the church’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edlyn’s name to the American Cancer Society.
