Obituary of Brenda Sturkie

Brenda Sturkie, 73, of West Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on December 28, 2023.  She was born in Barnwell, South Carolina on March 4, 1950 to the late William E. and Mary Pender Elkins.

Brenda is survived by her loving sons: Travis (Alison), Jason (Misty), and Jarred Sturkie.  She was a cherished grandmother to Carly Sturkie, Griffin Sturkie (Mary Alice), Rilee and Lia Sturkie, Paisley and Bonnie Sturkie.  Brenda is also survived by her three sisters and three brothers. 

She was preceded in death by her father, William E. Elkins, her mother, Mary Pender Elkins, her four sisters, two brothers, and her former husband, Boyce L. Sturkie.

A memorial service in Brenda’s honor will be held on Saturday, January 27 at Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church, 501 Church Street, West Columbia, SC.  Visitation will begin at 2:00pm, followed by the service at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to a charity of your choice in Brenda’s name.

Brenda Sturkie will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family.  Her warm presence and kind heart will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  May she rest in eternal peace.
