Obituary of Joseph Francis Kadi

Joseph “Joe” Francis Kadi passed away peacefully with his family at his side, at Lexington Medical Center on December 25, 2023, and went to be with his Lord at the age of 77. 

Joe was born to Hungarian immigrant parents, Joseph and Vilma Kadi, January 5, 1946, in Astoria New York. He later moved with his parents and brother, Robert to Flushing, NY, where he attended high school and met his wife, Josephine.  

Joe was drafted into the Army in 1966 and he and Josephine married in 1967. His military service would take the couple to Virginia and then on to Germany for one year. After his active-duty Joe continued to serve his Country in the Army Reserves and National Guard. 

After returning home from Germany, the couple had their two children, Jill and Joe. The family lived in Bay Shore, New York and then in Nesconset, New York.  

Eventually Joe and Josephine relocated to South Carolina, where their son Joe and his wife Celia lived, and the family enjoyed their time together.  

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Josephine Kadi, and their two children, Jill and Joseph; brother, Robert and sister-in-law Carmen; nephews, Robert N. Kadi and William Joseph Kadi. 

The family will gather to receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home – Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington SC, Friday, December 29, 2023, from 5PM to 7PM. The funeral Mass will be held at 11AM Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2350 Augusta Road, Lexington SC. Mr. Kadi will be taken back to New York for interment at Mount St. Mary Cemetery in Flushing. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society in Joseph’s memory.
