Obituary of Sgt. Jacob Schmitt Bush

Sgt. Jacob Schmitt Bush passed away unexpectedly on December 2, 2023 on Oahu, where he was serving active duty in the US Army. He is survived by his wife, Merissa Mackey; parents, David and Laura Bush; sisters, Rebecca and Karen von Arx; niece, Sophia; nephews, Felix, Oliver and Atlas; and Aunt, Victoria Bush.

Jacob, who was born on August 19, 1996, was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. This tremendous loss is felt not only by his family, but also the many close friends and colleagues that he leaves behind. Jacob had an adventurous spirit and was known for his kindness and sarcastic sense of humor. While the world was gifted 27 beautiful years with his presence, for those that knew him, there could never have been enough time.
