Obituary of Verl W. True

Verl W. True, 97, of West Columbia, SC passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023. He was born December 9, 1926, in Jackson, MI to the late Thelma Bullock and Edward Lyle True.  The family will greet friends at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on Friday, December 22nd from 5-7pm.  Mr. True will be brought to his final resting place in Jackson, MI following the visitation.

Verl and his wife, Barbara, loved to travel.  Together they made homes in Michigan, Florida, and South Carolina. He was a proud WWII veteran, and a lifetime member of the VFW.  He was also the treasurer of the Jones/True Cemetery.  He worked at Acme-Rheem Corp. and retired after 35 years.  He then worked an additional 8 years at Beck’s Flower Shop in Jackson, MI.  Agriculture was a real passion for Verl.  He was very active through the years with 4-H and GRANGE and worked caringly on his own farm.  

Verl is predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara J. True.  He is survived by his children, Linda (Will) Usilton, Terry (Cheryl) True, and Brian (Deb) True; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; and his sister, Janet (George) Lantz.
