Obituary of Harold Edward Hutto

Harold “Hal” Edward Hutto, 72, of Sandy Run, SC passed away Friday, December 1, 2023.

Hal was preceded in death by his father, Edward W. Hutto and his mother, Pauline “Polly” (Hoffman) Hutto, both of Swansea, SC.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Pund Hutto of Sandy Run; sisters-in-law, Maggie Stimming of Cannelton, IN, Dorothy Buechler (Mike), Linda Hassfurther (Brian), and Janet Uebelhor (Kent) of Ferdinand, IN; his brothers-in-law, David Pund (Sheila) of Huntingburg, IN, Virgil Pund (Cindy) of Inverness, IL, and John Pund of Ferdinand, IN; half-sister, Anita Hutto of Swansea, SC; step-mother, Catherine Hutto of Swansea, SC; step-sister, Cathy Sharpe Jarratt (John) of Lexington, SC; step-brothers, Ronnie Sharpe (Alesia) of Swansea, SC and Don Sharpe (Melinda) of FL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Hal graduated from Swansea High School in 1969 and the University of South Carolina in 1975.  He served in the Air Force Reserve during the Vietnam Era.  Hal worked for Pipeline Supply in Columbia (a job he loved dearly) for many years.  He also enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley, watching NASCAR with the River Rats, and especially spending time in nature.

A memorial service for Hal will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Beulah United Methodist Church, 1577 Old State Rd. Gaston, SC 29053 at 11:00 am.  Family will visit with friends beginning at 10 am in the church.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Irmo YMCA Children’s Swim Lessons program or your favorite charity.
