Obituary of James R. Morgan, Sr.

James R. Morgan, Sr., age 88, died on November 15, 2023 at his home. He was lovingly surrounded by family.

James survived his late wife of forty-nine years, Elsie M. Morgan. Together, they reared their beloved children, Rhonda M. Boone, James R. Morgan, Jr., Patricia A. Morgan, and their late son, John Thomas Morgan. He was also the cherished “Papa” to his grandchildren, Blythe Morgan, Megan Boone, and great grandfather to Sophia Tart, Johnny & Michael Morris, and Colton Boone.

He loved gardening and Gamecock football.

Visitation will be at 1:00PM Monday, November 20, 2023 at Thompson Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Rd. Columbia, SC, followed by a graveside service at 2:00PM by Pastor Liz Carmichael at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
