Obituary of Sophie Rossert Voss

Sophie Rossert Voss was born January 10,1927 in Bamberg, Germany. The daughter of Michael and Katherine, sister of Sebastian, Albin, Bobby, George and Fritz Rossert.

Sophie met and married her husband, SFC James R. Voss (US Army) while James was stationed in Bamberg.  They were transferred to Topeka, Kansas, where James R. “Jimmy” Voss, Jr. (Lori), Linda, and Brenda (Ted), were born. The family was eventually transferred back to Germany and then Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina, where the family established a lifelong home.  Sophie, a woman of many talents, worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield and raised the family, while James (US Army) worked in military service and Veterans administration. The legacy continues through grandchildren, Steven Voss, Amy Voss Owens (Charles), Erin Corley (Ronald), Michael Ruess (Megan), Kimberley Nobles, Walter Podewil,  and Glenn Podewil; and great-grandchildren, Ella Voss, Riley Owens, Everly Ruess, Holli, Preston, Adam and Libby Crawford.
